RALLY FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH 2026 & CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, making this month’s Rally for Medical Research hosted by the American Association for Cancer Research in Washington, D.C. feel especially meaningful.

I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Rally through my work with Yosemite and join hundreds of researchers, physicians, patient advocates, and organizations from across the country in advocating for continued investment in lifesaving medical research. So many of the treatments patients rely on today begin years earlier with basic scientific discovery. Federal support for institutions like the National Institutes of Health helps make that discovery possible, supporting scientists at universities and research institutions across the country as they work to understand disease, develop new treatment approaches, and ultimately bring better therapies to patients.

At Yosemite, we work closely with scientists, academic institutions, and companies developing new approaches to treating cancer, so I have been able to see firsthand how interconnected this ecosystem truly is. Research funding does not exist in isolation. It affects the discoveries that can be made, the companies that can be built around those discoveries, and ultimately the treatments that may reach patients.

That connection is especially important to me because of my longtime work with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Progress in pediatric cancer depends on continued scientific discovery, collaboration, and investment across the entire research community.

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I am reminded both of how much progress has already been made and how much more remains to be done. Every child deserves the opportunity to benefit from the next breakthrough.
